Senior Coordinator, RONA MS Bike Tours
Ontario Division

Permanent full time

The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada is an international leader in providing innovative services for people with MS and their families and advancing global research into the cause and cure of multiple sclerosis.

The RONA MS Bike Tours are one or two day cycling events where participants enjoy a great bike ride and raise money to find a cure for multiple sclerosis and to enable people affected by MS to enhance their quality of life.  The Senior Coordinator, Operations is responsible for overseeing the logistics and event operations for the three RONA MS Bike Tours managed from Toronto. 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee planning, logistics and execution of all three RONA MS Bike Tours
  • Customer service to participants.
  • Execute mass distribution of brochures and posters throughout Ontario.
  • Develop and execute presence at promotional events such as Toronto Bike Show, Toronto Bike Week as well as initiating new activities with volunteer Committee and Manager.
  • Cultivate new and existing sponsorship and partnerships.
  • Securing sponsored items for events (food, photographer, massage therapists, etc…).
  • Track registration and revenue statistics.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of administration/customer service and/or event experience preferably in a fund raising or corporate environment.
  • University degree or Community College Diploma is preferred.
  • Self-starter with excellent customer service and problem solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, able to balance multiple priorities with overlapping deadlines.
  • Superior computer skills, with experience in Microsoft Office and Excel spreadsheets, and an aptitude for database systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high pressure, professional environment.
  • Must have a valid Class G driver’s license.

Location: Toronto with travel primarily throughout the GTA area, and various parts of the province

Recreation Instructor
Calgary Chapter

Permanent part time position (28 hours/ week)

The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada is a dynamic, non-profit organization leading the way in finding a cure for multiple sclerosis and enabling people affected by MS to enhance their quality of life. A recipient of the prestigious 2007 Donner Canadian Foundation Award for Excellence in the Delivery of Social Services, the Calgary Chapter is recognized as one of the top social service agencies in Canada.

The Calgary Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada is currently seeking a Recreation Instructor. Reporting to the Director of Client Services, this person will be responsible for providing instruction and support for all Calgary Chapter recreation classes including yoga, fitness & bowling. The Instructor will also assist in program development and conduct various administrative duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess recognized teacher training certification for yoga with demonstrated experience in adaptive exercise
  • AFLCA Certification is required
  • An undergraduate degree in recreation, recreation administration or related fields would be an asset
  • Experience working with volunteers would be an asset
  • Possess an awareness of community resources, including recreational opportunities, for persons with MS in the Calgary area
  • Have the ability to deal sensitively and appropriately with a variety of people
  • Display exceptional interpersonal and facilitation skills
  • Experience working with special populations is an asset
  • Possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Standard First Aid certification is required
  • Must have access to a reliable vehicle
