Who We Are
The
BC Division of the MS Society of Canada has been supporting
research
into multiple sclerosis and providing services and programs
to the 8000 British Columbians affected by MS and their families
since 1975.
The BC Division consists of ten Chapters throughout
the Province. Each Chapter provides services
and programs in and around its’ community. There are
also more than 50 self-help groups available
throughout the Province.
Over a 12
month period MS Society Client Services Coordinators
in BC will connect with individuals seeking support or programs
to cope with living with MS more than 16,000 times. This
support includes providing:
- information
on MS
- counseling
- peer and
family support groups
- equipment
for mobility
- adapted
social and recreational programs
- advocacy
for legal matters
Annual fundraising events and donations account
for 86% of funds that enable the MS Society to provide services
for those living with MS in BC and their families and to
support research to find a cure. Each spring the Super Cities
Walk for MS takes place in 22 communities across BC and
in the summer there are 4 RONA MS Bike Tours to choose from.
Other fundraising initiatives include an MS 100 Hole Golf
Challenge, an Annual Carnation Campaign in
May and several independent fundraisers.
There are many ways
to help the MS Society of Canada. From becoming a member or board member,
to making a donation or planned gift to volunteering in the office or at
an event – your contribution to the MS Society is making a difference.
Together we will find a cure
for MS.
